Why did you join William Vaughan Company?

The career office at Adrian College had information on the typical “Big Four” accounting firms and some smaller local firms. William Vaughan Company was the only larger local firm in Toledo. I knew I did not want to be at a small, local firm, or a large corporate firm. For me, William Vaughan Company was the right size company. It would also serve as the right place to develop my career and become a partner someday.

What are you most passionate about in your work?

It’s all about relationships and making people happy. Providing a great work experience for our employees means providing the best possible service to our clients.

What has been your most rewarding client experience?

I have worked with one of my clients since 2007 when they began as a relatively local franchise company. Today, they have over 700 stores across the country. Being a part of the team that helped them develop into such a success is personally rewarding.

What makes William Vaughan Company different?

Our relationships. It’s more than a business transaction. We value our people and the clients we serve. We offer the expertise and resources of a large firm but with local control and autonomy. We have a fun and family-oriented environment and we engage with our community.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Coaching my two daughters’ soccer teams. I love to golf. I enjoy my role as President of The Toledo Club and serving on the Board of Directors at Lenawee Country Club. I can always be found with family and friends on our pontoon boat at the lake.

What’s a fun fact few would know about you?

The name Swiggum is derived from a farm in Norway where my ancestors lived and worked. Also, I have a Norwegian Flag tattooed on my upper arm.
